Flowood abandons interest in Glensview Drive so Rankin County School District can bid for new high school

At the Aug. 6 public hearing, the Board considered an ordinance to abandon any City interest in Glensview Drive (between Mississippi Highway 25 and Vine Street) located on sixteenth‑section land belonging to the Rankin County School District. The prerequisites for the hearing were confirmed on the record and no members of the public spoke about the proposal.

On a motion by Alderman Kirk McDaniel, seconded by Alderman Deron Harmon, the Board adopted the ordinance abandoning the City interest in the right-of-way and directed notice to the State Highway Department and Rankin County so official highway maps can be updated. The action aligns municipal title records with the School District’s bid process for a new high school.
