Council approves direction on Pateros Mall design; designer to add cooling misters on request

Councilmembers on March 18 approved the direction and schematic design for the Pateros Mall Improvement Project and asked staff to circulate the drawings for further comment. Ken VanVoorhis, who presented the design remotely, said the plans could include cooling misters if the council wanted them: "they could add that to the design." The motion to approve the design direction passed unanimously (mover: Bruce Henne; seconder: Chantel Poole).

Council asked staff to send the full designs to members for review and additional recommendations before finalizing construction documents. The project was discussed as part of the consent and design review portion of the meeting; no construction contract or funding appropriation was approved at this meeting. The action recorded is a direction to proceed with the current schematic and to return any substantive design changes for council consideration.
