Police chief outlines department budget during Sun Valley workshop

Police Chief Walt Femling presented an overview of the proposed Police Department budget and responded to a series of council questions on staffing levels, operational costs and planned capital purchases. City Treasurer Angela Walls and City Administrator Susan Robertson supplemented the presentation with budget detail and clarifications about fund balances and accounting lines.

Council members — notably Michelle Griffith and Council President Keith Saks — asked repeated questions about specific line items and timing of capital projects. Chief Femling and staff provided clarifications and said they would supply any additional requested detail to council prior to the next budget workshop.

No formal vote on police budget adoption was taken at the June 23 workshop; the item remained part of the Tentative Budget process with follow-up information requested by council.
