Council asks Planning & Zoning to review Prospector Hill density and schedules Aug. 6 special session

The Sun Valley City Council on July 21 approved a motion requesting that the Planning and Zoning Commission meet to determine recommendations on proposed changes to density on Prospector Hill and present those recommendations to the council at a special meeting on Aug. 6, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Council Member Jane Conard moved the motion; Council Member Michelle Griffith seconded it. The roll call vote was recorded as Ayes: Council President Keith Saks, Council Member Peter Hendricks, Council Member Jane Conard and Council Member Michelle Griffith; Nays: none.

The motion was made amid the council's continuing review of the draft 2015 Comprehensive Plan, where Prospector Hill emerged repeatedly as a focal point for possible land-use plan amendments (LUPA) and massing studies. The council's action sends the specific density question back to Planning & Zoning for a formal recommendation before the council considers any ordinance or amendment. The special meeting date gives the commission and council a defined procedural deadline ahead of the public hearing schedule for the comprehensive plan.
