Board approves local support for Warrington Senior Living affordable‑housing proposal

The commission voted to approve local‑government support for Warrington Senior Living, a proposed affordable housing project led by Gunther Properties in partnership with National Core. Supporters said the proposal would provide stable, well‑managed affordable housing for seniors and that county LGA support positions the project favorably for Florida Housing tax-credit programs.

"Warrington Senior Living will provide much needed affordable housing for seniors in Escambia County," Sean Mosheim of National Core said, noting recent state funding goals that favor locally supported projects and nonprofit applicants. Board members unanimously approved the LGA designation and asked staff to review the county's announcement and scoring protocols for the LGA application process so future rounds avoid the compressed timelines that this year's applicants faced. Developers asked permission to return to the board if state funding is not awarded this cycle to preserve the local award and pursue permits in advance of a future application.
