City to put Causeway wetlands regrading work out to bid; staff plans spring 2027 bay opening

Staff told the committee the wetlands cell off the Cedar Point Causeway is entering the bidding phase for regrading work this fall and that non-native species treatments (two applications this year) have been completed. "They're going to be moving stuff around creating the passageway for a water flow through, because eventually next spring they plan to open up that cell to the bay," the presenter said.

The update noted the cell has reached its designed capacity for dredge acceptance and that staff and partners (including KS Associates and other regulators) will continue revegetation and regrading work. Work will include planting vegetation and introducing appropriate aquatic species as part of the habitat restoration plan.
