City commission approved development agreement for Jackson Street hotel; plan includes hotel, event center and 235-space parking structure

Staff reported the commission authorized a development agreement with the Longer family's North Coast Inn that sets public incentives and an 18-month period for the developer to secure financing. "So that development agreement, contemplates a multistory hotel, an event center, and a multilevel parking facility, which will contain approximately 235 parking spaces with at least 100 public parking spaces," the presenter said.

Staff noted the proposal covers the rectangle from Water Street to Market Street and said site plan details will proceed through planning commission review; the development agreement is intended to give lenders the certainty they need to invest. Committee members asked about current parking counts and circulation; staff said the existing Jackson Street lot holds around 100 spaces.
