Uintah staff welcome new court clerk, mark retirement and report winter readiness

Staff opened the Dec. 29 meeting by welcoming Joan as the new court clerk and acknowledging Christie Blackner’s retirement, encouraging the retiree to enjoy travel and life after service. Staff also requested support for the mayor-elect to ensure a smooth mayoral transition and expressed openness to new meeting formats.

Public Works reported maintenance activity: PRV valve work on a vault last serviced in 2004, rebuilds by Clay Valve with new rubber kits and seals, and additional vault maintenance planned. Staff confirmed that trucks and related systems are ready for snowplow operations ahead of winter weather. Council reports included an encampment identified roughly 300 yards north of Brent Nelson’s residence; a sheriff sergeant was dispatched, the site was checked, and it was vacated around Christmas. Members expressed concerns about wildfire risk from dry grass and transient activity near canyon areas.
