Commission adopts Mount Spokane master plan; Nordic skiing approved as conditional activity

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission voted July 9 to adopt the Mount Spokane State Park Master Plan and revised long‑term park boundaries. The action rescinded earlier plans including CAMP Products (1999, 2003), the 2010 Master Facilities Plan, the 2009 Interpretive Plan and the 2014 Trail Plan, and designated Nordic skiing as a conditional activity within the Ragged Ridge Natural Area.

Commissioner Scott Merriman moved to approve the staff recommendation; Commissioner Laurie Connelly seconded the motion, which the Commission approved unanimously with Commissioner Sophia Danenberg excused for the vote. Staff presented the proposed land classifications and management direction in the packet; the motion implements the new master plan and provides direction on allowable conditional uses in the Ragged Ridge Natural Area.
