Council amends second police-levy resolution to fix millage typo, unanimous votes recorded

At its July 31 meeting the Village of Geneva-on-the-Lake Council amended Resolution 2026-58 to correct a typographical error and took action to send the corrected measure toward county certification. Village Administrator Alex Iarocci pointed out that the millage was printed as "4" on page two of the resolution when it should have been "1.99," and Solicitor Newcomb advised council to amend the resolution to correct the scrivener's error.

Councilmember Matt Caudill moved to amend Resolution 2026-58; P.J. Macchia seconded. Council subsequently waived the three-reading rule and voted to act on the amended resolution; the roll calls show unanimous yes votes by the five members present. The corrected resolution cites Ohio Revised Code §5705.03 for certification procedures tied to the levy request.

The procedural fixes ensure that the county auditor receives a corrected certificate reflecting the intended 1.99-mill request for five years so the measure can proceed through certification ahead of the November ballot.
