Public health operations update: staffing gaps, grant activity, hazard-mitigation kickoff

County administration reported a set of operational updates to the committee on July 29. Key points included: a public-health registered nurse vacancy with no applicants to date; a posted epidemiologist position that drew some interest; submission of a Rural Health Transformation Plan grant by WNY R-AHEC acting as the Rural Health Network for Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming Counties; and a collaborative SAMHSA grant application drafted with EMS and Mental Health for 'Rural Emergency Medical Services Training.'
