District presents line items: middle school $67M, high‑school conversion $55M, Russell remodel $6M

During the workshop Superintendent Sean ran through a set of core projects and associated rough cost estimates developed with the district’s architecture consultants. Key figures he cited included a new middle school at about $67,000,000, a middle‑to‑high‑school conversion at roughly $55,000,000, a Russell remodel at about $6,000,000 and an HVAC replacement at Lena Whitmore near $3,000,000.

Sean emphasized flexibility in those numbers: "The architecture report was actually slightly higher than that. So it's a reduction from there. I think we can find some savings there," he said, noting tradeoffs such as removing an auxiliary gym or wood shop to reduce costs. He explained the high‑school conversion package would include career‑technical space, a performing arts center, commons, library and administrative suite and described the conversion as intended to reset the building "truly, for another 80 years."
