Artists and organizers highlight arts, festivals and tourism in plan conversation

Christina Varga (introduced by the consultants) described local arts and culture programming — including the Phoenicia Playhouse, a new Phoenicia Film Festival supported by Arts Mid‑Hudson, the summer concert series in Big Indian, and the Phoenicia Festival of the Arts — and said these assets support local businesses and community life. She urged the plan to continue leveraging arts as an economic and cultural development tool.

Consultants thanked Varga and said arts and culture sections are included in the draft plan. They characterized arts programming as compatible with environmental protections and local economic goals if implemented in ways that preserve community character.
