Washington Democrats adopt new platform after floor votes, co-chairs cite exhaustive drafting work

Platform co-chairs presented the committee’s work and described the process used to craft the draft platform. "By the numbers, 817 amendments were submitted by every single LD," a platform co-chair reported, and the committee described using editorial slates to bundle related amendments and reduce deliberation time.

Two minority reports qualified for debate and were separately considered and balloted; both minority reports were incorporated by delegate ballots before the full platform adoption. After the votes on minority reports and final debate, delegates voted to adopt the full platform 662 to 95. Co-chairs and staff pointed delegates to the committee’s final report, minority reports and a spreadsheet that details the disposition of each proposed amendment for public review.
