Andy Billig elected permanent convention chair; Gov. Beshear delivers prerecorded rallying message

Under the convention rules adopted by delegates, a single nominated candidate — former Senate majority leader Andy Billig — was declared elected by acclamation to serve as permanent convention chair. Delegates welcomed Billig to the dais, and he thanked volunteers and attendees for hosting the convention in his hometown of Spokane.

Earlier in the program a prerecorded video from Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear urged Washington Democrats to frame their message around "why" they are running, and to organize broadly. "I'm also chair of the Democratic Governors Association," Beshear said in his message while encouraging delegates to communicate values, show up for voters and run competitively in difficult districts.
