State party plans voter education as outside money targets state supreme court races

The Q&A noted that a majority of state Supreme Court seats are on the ballot and that outside groups are preparing to spend heavily. "You have Brian Haywood... and Rob McKenna teaming up, to create a pack to spend a lot of money to get their judges across the line," the DNC vice chair said, framing the party's role as focused on education and getting voters to pay attention to judicial records and spending.

She said the party will mobilize local organizations to explain that judicial contests, though nonpartisan on paper, have political consequences and that voters can and should evaluate candidates' records. The vice chair also noted that several supreme court candidates aligned with Democratic values are attending the convention to meet delegates.
