Commissioners to extend mutual‑aid auto‑aid for several cities through Sept. 23

Chair (S1) announced a single fire agenda item asking the commission to extend mutual/mutual‑aid auto‑aid agreements for Valley Center, Mount Hope, Cheney and Clearwater to Sept. 23 so the cities can complete their budget processes.

"So it is to extend the mutual aid auto aid for Valley Center, Mount Hope, Cheney, and Clearwater," Chair (S1) said, explaining the extension is meant to let those cities finish budgeting and confirm how the county will continue support. There was brief clarification that Colwich was not included because it already has an auto‑aid arrangement with the city of Wichita.

The announcement was a preview of an agenda item rather than a formal vote at this meeting; staff and commissioners indicated the item will appear on the fire agenda for formal consideration.
