Board asks staff for analysis on athletic director role, pay-to-participate and technology funding

Board members used the Jan. 10 FY27 budget workshop to request several targeted follow-ups from staff, asking for data and analysis to inform decisions that would affect FY27 spending. The minutes record that the board asked for information and analysis on a potential full-time athletic director, a review of the district’s "pay to participate" policy, and staff clarification about student-issued technology entries in the capital budget after town funding that occurred on Dec. 29, 2025.

Board members also suggested considering a one-year delay for coaching expansion and asked staff to outline the organizational structure for positions that will inform how new or changed roles would be funded and implemented. No final decisions were made; the board directed staff to return with costs, timelines and options at the Jan. 22 BOE meeting.
