Board approves short lane restrictions for Summer Street repair and several right-of-way permits

The Hammond City board approved a request from Hassy Construction (via Dean Button) for lane restrictions at Summer Street and State Street for approximately two days starting 08/12/2026 to repair a leaking sewer joint. A contractor representative told the board the work involves fixing a leaking joint and restoring the surface.

"There's a leaking sewer that was part of the work that Hassy had done...They're gonna fix the sewer joint underneath the ground and then restore the surface," said the presenter (speaker 5). Engineering staff recommended approval of five right-of-way permits and emphasized that roads would remain open with flagging and that traffic control plans would be enforced. The board approved the lane restriction and the permits.
