Epic Waters at Grand Prairie commemorated National Waterpark Day by pouring roughly 2,000 pounds of ice into its outdoor wave pool and staging snowball events and free snow cones to help visitors beat triple-digit heat.
The park’s promotion was positioned as the "coolest day of the summer," and park and city presenters said the family-friendly activities were paired with a charitable drive. Epic Waters has partnered with Grand Prairie Independent School District for the seventh consecutive year on the 'Stuff the Bus' school-supplies campaign.
An Epic Waters representative explained the donation incentive: "Our goal is to have school supplies donated that we give back to Grand Prairie ISD." The representative said if a person brings 10 school-supply items (preferably from the park’s list) they receive one free ticket; the offer is per person so each family member may donate separately to receive a ticket.
Organizers said the Stuff the Bus campaign runs through Aug. 9 and directed interested donors to epicwatersgp.com for details and the park’s event calendar.
