Board approves employment contract for Mark Winkelman as executive director

The Maricopa Stadium District board voted to approve an employment contract for Mark Winkelman to serve as executive director.

Counsel told the board the contract in the meeting backup outlines salary and standard benefits including health care, paid time off and equipment. "We have the employment contract in your backup," counsel said, adding that the agreement addresses benefits and standard employer provisions. Chair Graham moved to approve the contract and a second was recorded. After a voice vote, the chair announced the motion passed and welcomed Winkelman formally to the role.

Winkelman, who has been handling onboarding tasks, will be a signer on the district's new bank account along with the chair and the treasurer, the treasurer said. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the public transcript; the approval was taken by voice vote.
