The Sun Valley City Council on June 21 approved Ordinance 487, a zone map amendment (ZMA #2016-01) that rezones Tax Lot 1627 (12640 Highway 75) from OR-1 to Open Space to allow construction of a municipal well and pump station for the Sun Valley Water & Sewer District. Community Development Director Jae Hill presented the application and noted the Planning and Zoning Commission had made a unanimous recommendation for approval.
Pat McMahon, representing the applicant, told the council there has been discussion with Idaho Power about additional use of the parcel for a power line. Council members asked technical questions about the building orientation and ventilation; McMahon said the structure is south-facing and is isolated such that air conditioning is not required. Council President Keith Saks noted staff told him the commission had not yet approved minutes and asked the council approve the rezone subject to formal documentation; McMahon stated so for the record that he heard the Commission recommend approval at the commission meeting.
Council Member Brad DuFur moved to approve the ordinance; the motion was seconded by Council President Keith Saks. A roll call vote recorded ayes from Saks, Council Member Jane Conard and DuFur; the Mayor declared the motion approved. With the zoning change, staff may proceed with accompanying conditional-use permit and design-review applications for the well and pump station.
