City to evaluate rewiring of City Hall and Fire Department; wireless concerns noted

Todd Mandeville told the Council that much of the building wiring is old and inadequate and that the Police Department was recently rewired to support a new phone system; he recommended a comprehensive survey before finalizing budget figures for rewiring City Hall and the Fire Department.

Mandeville noted concerns about relying solely on wireless connections, citing reliability and security issues. He said the budget numbers presented are estimates and that staff will need a more detailed assessment and vendor proposals to determine final costs.
