Sun Valley leaders thank voters after local option tax passes

Council Member Michelle Griffith thanked voters for passing the Local Option Tax at the May 17th election, saying it reflects constituents' understanding of the city's needs. Mayor Peter Hendricks and fellow council members echoed that gratitude and described the revenue as a tool to address priorities such as road maintenance and workforce housing.

The remarks came at the start of a special May 18 meeting where councilors signaled they will use the forthcoming budget process to prioritize core infrastructure. Council President Keith Saks called the tax a “win-win situation for the City and its residents,” and the council moved later in the session to add and then enter an executive session under Idaho Code 74-206(1)(d) to discuss records exempt from public disclosure.
