The Sun Valley City Council voted unanimously May 31 to authorize Mayor Peter Hendricks to enter a contract with Averti Solutions of Boise for an internal controls assessment of the city’s financial compliance, in an amount not to exceed $5,000.
Council Member Jane Conard moved the measure and Council President Keith Saks seconded it. The motion as read authorized the mayor "to enter into a contract with Averti Solutions from Boise, an internal control assessment firm, for the purpose of assessing the controls the City has to assure City compliance in all financial matters, in amount not to exceed $5,000." A roll call vote recorded ayes from Saks, Michelle Griffith, Jane Conard and Brad DuFur; the mayor declared the motion approved.
Council members did not request further staffing changes or a separate budget appropriation at the meeting; the assessment was presented as a discrete, limited engagement to review the city’s internal financial controls. The council did not specify funding sources in the motion.
The contract is intended as an operational review; the Council noted next steps would include receiving the consultant’s findings and, if necessary, considering follow-up actions. The council also discussed moving forward with City Attorney hiring logistics at an upcoming June 2 meeting, but took no direct action linking the Averti contract to attorney selection during the May 31 session.
