Camera upgrade for police and town hall scaled back after window contractor bids

Administration told the committee a planned integrated camera system for town hall and the police station was reduced from an initial $95,000 request to roughly $30,000 after bids for siding and windows came back higher than anticipated. Assistant Town Manager Cheryl Walsh said the police station windows are being procured now and that leftover funds from a prior FY26 appropriation could be used to fund a first phase of cameras that would later integrate with the police department system.

"For the windows being completed, the remainder funds, because it falls in the building envelope, could be reallocated to fund the security cameras at that building," Walsh said. Committee members asked where the $64,000 window appropriation is recorded; Walsh explained the funds were appropriated in FY26 and are available to draw against in FY27 when invoices are paid. Members agreed administration should provide quote details and clarify the accounting entries for the camera and window work ahead of next meetings.
