Council appoints Dale Perry to Volunteer Firefighter Dependent Fund Board; clerk says vacancy was publicly posted

Council voted unanimously on Aug. 6 to appoint Dale Perry to the Trenton Volunteer Firefighter Dependent Fund Board for a term ending Dec. 31, 2026. Clerk of Council Stanislav Beresford told members the position had been posted online since June 3, was voluntary and unpaid, and that Mr. Perry was the lone applicant.

Mayor Perry said he had made several board positions available for others to apply and requested the CIC (Community Improvement Corporation) posting be reissued because it previously had no applicants. The appointment passed on a roll-call vote of 7–0.

Some residents had asked about whether the position was posted and whether appointments had any compensation; Beresford clarified there is no compensation for new board members and confirmed the public posting timeline during the meeting.
