City Manager unveils revised Trenton Veterans Memorial design; council flags safety and accessibility concerns

City Manager Marcos Nichols presented updated imagery for the proposed Trenton Veterans Memorial and said the renderings reflected prior council feedback. The new renderings place the memorial closer to the street and replace a previously brick back wall concept with a cleaner white wall; Nichols said the white wall change was necessary because the memorial is not being built into a hillside and that two black pillars would support the memorial wings.

Council members voiced concern that the location shown could be vulnerable to vehicles on Edgewood Drive near the Police Department and emphasized that the memorial should remain accessible and avoid requiring veterans to walk up a hill to reach it. Nichols said he would take council feedback, make adjustments to the design and bring an updated design back to council.
