Board approves one-time billing adjustment after apartment laundry-meter reads spike

Village staff reported an anomalous meter read of about 80,000 gallons on a laundry-room meter at a multiunit building on Shabbana Road; staff said the apartment building has individual unit meters and the laundry-room meter normally reads far less. Public works will monitor weekly readings while working with the owner and plumber, and the board approved a one-time billing adjustment after reviewing the account history.

Clerk Jen Morrison explained prior-owner history and account review and said, "She's looking for a one-time adjustment," as staff investigated potential causes including an outside spigot left on. The board voted to authorize the adjustment and directed staff to continue monitoring.
