Board of Civil Authority votes to run absentee ballots on Election Day

The Weathersfield Board of Civil Authority voted July 29 to run all absentee ballots on Election Day rather than permitting early entry into the tabulator for the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. Joseph (Joe) Bublat moved the motion and August Murray seconded it; the motion passed after debate with two nays.

Committee member Flo-Ann Dango had asked the board to allow early entry of absentee ballots into the tabulator for the general election but members expressed concern that early entry could reveal results or influence the process. Dango responded that the tabulator process does not produce printed results and that the town clerk keeps a log of the number of absentee ballots entered. John Arrison explicitly opposed the motion during discussion and asked to call the question before the vote.
