Public‑works staff brief board on road, pedestrian and transit projects

County public-works staff updated the board on a broad slate of transportation, trail and airport projects, describing recent completions and timelines for upcoming work. Martinez told the board that a council-funded traffic-safety project “it was the installation of rumble strips, from more or less from about the county line, to Airport Road along 502.” He also reported that Denver Stills Phase 2 began in January and is now fully complete.

Staff outlined projects in design or construction, including Trinity Drive safety and ADA improvements (expected to finish in January), the Finch Street extension (expected December), and combined New Mexico Fort Crossing and Pinon School Trail work that is awaiting a notice of obligation for state and federal funding. The presentation prompted questions about pedestrian crossings, bike-lane design and transit staffing; staff said more detailed presentations are planned in September and October.
