County waiting on notice of obligation before bidding New Mexico Fort Crossing, Pinon School Trail work

Martinez told the board the New Mexico Fort Crossing and Pinon School Trail projects are combined into one effort and are funded through state and federal programs, but staff are "awaiting, what we call a notice of obligation, for the funding" before advertising bids. He said once funds are obligated the project will be advertised for bids and staff anticipate returning to council in October to award a construction contract.

If the schedule holds, Martinez said construction would begin in November and the project is expected to run through October 2027. The board did not vote on the project in this meeting; staff framed the update as a funding and procurement milestone that requires an administrative notice before procurement steps can proceed.
