Council liaison reports failed plastic‑bag ban, $230M bond for workforce housing and other council actions

Councilor Havan told the board that at the July 14 county‑council meeting the chair of the Board of Public Utilities presented a utilities update and that a demonstration of the county dashboard was shown. Havan said a proposed ban on single‑use plastic bags "failed on a tie vote 3 to 3" and therefore will not move forward at this time.

Havan also highlighted major council items this week, including the issuance of a $230,000,000 revenue bond to support a workforce housing project on DP Road (Coyote Mesa), an RFP to advance a countywide composting service, and planning‑and‑zoning approvals and variance discussions tied to redevelopment near the high school and Diamond Drive.
