Utah 2034 organizer cites athlete concentration and facilities as hosting strengths

Fraser Bullock, president and executive chair of the Utah 2034 organizing committee, told a Salt Lake City crowd at a returning-athletes watch party that Utah's ties to elite winter athletes and its compact venues position the state well for hosting the 2034 Winter Games.

"If we were our own country, I think we'd be 6th on the medal count," Bullock said, citing the number of Milan–Cortina athletes with Utah connections and urging community support for the upcoming Games. He noted the continuity with Utah's 2002 experience and framed the 2034 opportunity as a chance to bring communities together.

Bullock stressed practical advantages for athletes and fans, saying the proximity of venues makes the event easier to attend and more comfortable for competitors. Organizers and athletes onstage described Utah Olympic Park, the Utah Olympic Oval and Park City facilities as crucial training assets that support athlete development year-round.

Organizers did not announce new funding or formal bids during the remarks; Bullock's comments focused on community engagement, legacy and momentum from recent Olympics. The watch party closed with an invitation to local residents to 'show up' for athletes and future events as 2034 approaches.
