March motion to fund school generators failed 2–3 with one abstention, presenter says

The school division Presenter recounted a prior Board of Supervisors motion to use FY'25 carry‑forward funds to install backup generators at Troy Mason, Axon and Man Aubin elementary schools; according to the Presenter, the motion failed in March by a 2–3 vote with one abstention, leaving the generator work unapproved.

"In that March 2026 board supervisor meeting, a motion was made by 1 of the supervisors to approve the appropriation of $532,239 from the school's FY '25 carry forward funds to be expended for the installation of these generators. The motion failed in a 2 to 3 vote and won abstention," the Presenter said. The Presenter emphasized the operational importance of generators by noting an overnight power outage at Bassett High School during freshman orientation was handled by generators, allowing the event to continue.

No vote on the generator projects was recorded in this meeting; the Presenter urged the board and supervisors to consider fund classification and reallocation.
