Clerk: 25 boards and commissions open recruitment in August; new member George Shannon introduces himself

The clerk told the Zoning Board of Adjustment that recruitment is open for 25 city boards and commissions and that the recruitment period runs from Aug. 1 through Aug. 31. The clerk stated, "just wanted to notify the board and the public that we have 25 boards and commissions that have now started recruitment, now from from now the 1st of the month, August 1, through the end, August 31."

Chair Matt Cherry Perry then invited the board's newest member to introduce himself. George Shannon said he was born and raised in the city, owns a local business and seeks to learn, grow and contribute through his service, saying, "My name is George Shannon. I figured this was a good opportunity for me to learn, grow, and be able to contribute at the same time, to the city that I love so much and I'm born and raised in. I have a business here. I have a family here, and I just, wanted to be able to contribute to, make this city a better place." The chair thanked Shannon for his service and noted the board's next meeting is Aug. 20, 2026.
