Planning commission reelected Jerry Barbieri as chair; members debate term-limit rule change

The commission addressed a memo from staff indicating officers may serve no more than four consecutive terms. One commissioner proposed amending the rules of procedure to remove the limitation to preserve continuity during the comprehensive-plan update. Staff said the amendment would be redrafted and brought back at the next meeting for a vote, noting past amendment procedures and the need for a supermajority if required by the rules.

During the election portion of the agenda, a commissioner moved to reelect Jerry Barbieri as chair. "I would like to make a motion that we reelect Jerry Barbieri as our chairman," the commissioner said; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The commission also confirmed Phyllis and Mary in their positions as vice chair and secretary for continuity.
