Teller County approves $8.58M guaranteed‑maximum contract for central service center

The board voted to approve the construction phase contract for Teller County’s central service center, accepting a guaranteed‑maximum price (GMP) of $8,584,742 with Taylor Kors. Deputy county administrator Miss Morris presented the contract and said staff, public works and legal counsel had reviewed the agreement and recommended approval.

Commissioners emphasized that the GMP transfers cost‑overrun risk to the contractor except for owner‑requested changes or specified alternates. Paul Hurcombe, the county attorney, and project staff confirmed allowances are identified in the contract for certain items and that the county’s public‑works director had worked with the contractor to narrow uncertainties. The clerk recorded a unanimous roll call approving the contract.
