During commissioner comments at the Aug. 6 statutory meeting, the presiding commissioner (identified in roll call as Robert Choi) said an organization has pledged funds to cover demolition permit fees for residents who lack insurance. The commissioner described ongoing coordination of cleanup logistics and urged residents to watch the county's social media and website for updates.
"We've got an organization that's gonna give us a a good chunk of money, to to cover those demo permit fees for people who don't have insurance, or can't afford that," the presiding commissioner said as he described recovery supports now being deployed. He also noted dumpsters and trailers had been arranged for cleanup and reiterated gratitude for volunteers and donors.
Commissioners did not adopt any new funding or ordinance at the meeting; the announcement described a private donation or pledge of support and operational steps already taken to assist residents with cleanup and permitting.
