Board approves policy to issue official town email addresses

At a public meeting the Town of Ancram board approved a motion asking the tech committee to create and assign official town email addresses for board members.

Board member Amy moved that the tech committee establish 'Anchoram New York dot org' email addresses for each town board member effective Jan. 1, 2026, and that those accounts be the sole addresses used for official town business. Board members who spoke in favor cited practicality for communications, clearer records for public‑records requests and a separation of personal and official accounts. The town attorney was present and the board asked the tech committee to deliver an implementation plan to the board.
