Board reviews solar RFP responses and EV charger options; decision due Dec. 18

Councilwoman Lutz told the board that the town solicited proposals for solar installations (rooftop, pavilion, or carport) and has received only one estimate so far; the board will decide whether to accept a proposal or rebid on Dec. 18.

Lutz said the town considered reinstalling old rooftop panels (which would cost $26,000–$29,000) or pursuing a carport or upgraded new panels. She asked the climate smart communities task force to review responses and flagged concern that only one vendor estimate had been submitted.

On EV charging, Lutz described three options under Central Hudson's make‑ready program: replace the pedestal and upgrade wiring (which qualifies for funding), replace only the unit (no assistance), or expand to two units (four ports) — and said, counterintuitively, that expansion could cost less than upgrading the existing unit. She asked the vendor to explain the cost differences before the board decides how to proceed.
