Council directs city manager to prepare $12,000 annual increase for finance director

Council members discussed and voted to direct the city manager to bring back a formal salary schedule reflecting a proposed $1,000-per-month increase for the finance director.

Council member Brian, who opened discussion, said the increase would recognize extended service while serving both as interim city manager and finance director and described it as both appreciation and market consideration. "I would like to propose we increase his salary, by a total of $12,000 annually or 1000 dollars a month," a council member stated during discussion, and a motion to direct the city manager to present the adjusted salary schedule was made and seconded.

After brief discussion about whether a formal schedule should be attached for transparency, the council moved to a formal roll call on the directive. The roll call produced affirmative votes from Council member Bridal, Council member Hubbard, Council member Clarno and the mayor; the mayor announced the motion carried and directed the manager to return the formal schedule and paperwork at the next meeting.
