City Manager Kors told the council new water bills were being mailed and that a new account number printed on the bill will restore online-payment capability and allow recurring payments.
"Your water bills should have been hitting in the mail today or by tomorrow," Kors said, explaining customers will need the new account number and their last payment amount to set up online payments. He added recurring-payment options will be available once customers register.
Kors also updated council on the Hedge Creek UV project, saying crews are laying new pipes and building a small structure next to Castle Rock Water to house two UV generators as part of a commitment by Dunsmuir and other Siskiyou County cities not to use chlorine for routine disinfection. "So that if ever the worst case scenario happened where there was some kinda contamination to our water starting up at the springs, we would not add chlorine. We would sap it with the UV generators," he said, describing the project's purpose and near-term construction activity.
