Board denies credit transfers and apprenticeship hours for several petitioners under NAC rules

At the May 3 meeting the Board denied a pair of petitions seeking to transfer training hours or recognize out-of-state apprenticeship programs.

Louie Burton sought to transfer 69.67 hours from a 1999 North Carolina barber program; citing NAC 643.660 and the fact the training did not finish within a year of enrollment, the Board denied the transfer and required an additional 250-hour course. Likewise, Ezekiel Ayala's California apprenticeship hours were denied because the program did not meet the Board's requirements for recognition in Nevada. Motions to deny both petitions were approved unanimously.

Board members cited the regulatory standard (NAC 643.660) in explaining why older or incomplete hour records could not be accepted as-is. Petitioners may reapply after completing the prescribed additional coursework.
