Sun Valley Economic Development asks council to maintain $8,500 contribution amid housing workload

Harry Griffith of Sun Valley Economic Development presented the organization's vision, mission and strategic approach and asked the council to keep the FY2018 contribution "the same as last year, which is $8,500." He said middle‑income housing has become a large share of the organization's workload and described the local housing market as "unhealthy/transitioning," noting discussions with landowners and other stakeholders.

Council Member Michelle Griffith recused herself for the presentation and later rejoined the meeting. The presentation also covered proposed tax‑reimbursement incentive projects, startup/relocation leads and fundraising plans. Griffith said the budget request is slightly higher than last year overall but requested the city maintain the same direct contribution. The council asked for additional budget detail and documentation of goals and strategies.
