Autopsy: multiple gunshot wounds; ballistics show Taylor's round struck decedent's handgun

Detective Britney Tommaso told the review that an autopsy conducted by Dr. Nathan Schaller on Jan. 7, 2026 listed the cause of death as "multiple gunshot wounds" and that the manner of death was ruled a homicide. She said toxicology showed alcohol and multiple prescription medications in the decedent's system.

Tommaso also described physical evidence from the scene and ballistics testing: one of Officer Taylor's rounds struck the top of the decedent's handgun and fragmented into the ceiling; another round struck the frame of the sliding door. Ballistics testing confirmed the decedent's handgun remained functional after being struck; Tommaso said the decedent still had six rounds in the magazine.
