District staff presented graduation and on‑track metrics on Feb. 9 and credited targeted interventions for improved outcomes.
"Our 4 year completer rate we have is 90 almost 94 percent, which is really great," the presenter said, noting Silverton High School is above the statewide average (reported in the slides as 83 percent statewide). The presentation named counseling teams, Sequoia reengagement supports, a 9th‑grade on‑track team, and credit‑recovery options as drivers of the gains.
Board members asked for specifics on the "9th grade on track" definition. Staff clarified that, for ODE reporting, freshmen should have six credits at the end of the year, including at least one English credit, and explained how the district checks math and English to confirm on‑track status. Staff also described incentives—such as parking‑pass consequences tied to six‑week attendance contracts—to encourage seniors to stay on track.
District staff said the reported dropout rate (0.71 percent) benefits from active tracking: when a student leaves, the district seeks records requests or other proof of enrollment elsewhere (including homeschool registrations), which reduces misclassification. The board heard that data-cleaning windows in late October/early December are important for correcting miscodes (for example, foreign exchange students incorrectly appearing as dropouts).
No policy changes were adopted; the presentation was informational and identified several ongoing interventions the district said it will continue to use.
