District administrators told the board they follow Oregon Department of Education (ODE) guidance regarding federal agents on campus and reviewed steps staff should take if approached by outside agencies.
"We are to ask for a judicial warrant. So we are not allowed to allow ICE officials into the building without a warrant," the district administrator said and noted that the same general verbiage applies to other federal agents. Staff said they record badge numbers and identification and use a form to document visits or interviews.
Kim told the board the guidance has not materially changed since it was last presented; she said staff will continue to monitor pending bills in the legislature that might adjust the guidance. The board asked whether incidents of ICE presence on or off campus had occurred in Oregon; Kim referenced isolated incidents (e.g., football-game and off-campus detentions) but said such events are not common in local schools.
The presentation was informational; no policy change was proposed at the meeting.
