Board appoints four to budget committee, including Sarah Brown and Gary Cedar

The board moved and voted to fill four vacancies on the budget committee at the Feb. 9 meeting.

A motion to appoint all four candidates as presented was made and seconded; the board voted by voice and the chair announced the motion carried. The appointees listed by the board were Sarah Brown (joined virtually), Gary Cedar (present in person), Eamon Sabo and Kyle Palmer. Staff were directed to notify the appointees and provide start‑date and onboarding information.

Sarah Brown described experience as a business owner, nonprofit executive and former charter-school board chair and said she has budget oversight experience and rural-service experience with the Oregon Food Bank. Gary Cedar introduced himself as having 15 years of finance work in public and private sectors and as a physical analyst at the Oregon Department of Transportation; he said he has two daughters in Silverton High School and wants to learn more about district budgeting.
