Design Review Board clears three murals proposed by Saratoga Arts

Saratoga Arts representative Spencer Sherry presented three proposed murals that are part of a regional program with the New York State Council on the Arts. He described the program goal to cultivate placemaking through regional murals and said local artists, color palettes and anti‑graffiti sealants were part of the plan. "This is a program that we are working with New York State Council of the Arts to implement," he said during the presentation.

Board members reiterated that content is not within DRB purview but the board must ensure murals don't damage historic features and that mounting and borders are appropriate. Conditions for approval included leaving a brick border of approximately one foot around mural fields, ensuring hardware is mounted in mortar joints where applicable, and preserving historic features such as a fire bell by keeping it visually separate from the mural. The board approved each mural application with those conditions.
